NEXT UPDATE
Over 102,000 kilometres in 308 municipalities.
Find a new direction on a familiar walk. Katujahti 2.0 adds paths and separate walking and cycling routes, 50 new achievement types and walks that continue across municipal borders.
A NEW OPTIONAL EXTRA
Choose Streets + Side Paths to collect routes between the streets too. Side Paths has its own progress.
Streets remain the main game. Municipality completion and street achievements still count streets only.
Discover your first path, collect streets with different initials or explore three municipalities in a day. New achievements reward streets, Side Paths, familiar walks and new places.
Collect streets in several municipalities during one outing. Download neighbouring maps in advance and see every municipality you visited in your walk summary.
Clearer area and Finland maps bring your progress into view. Street detection, walk recording and settings have been refined so you can focus on your walk.
From version 2.0, Katujahti's own online backup is removed. Your progress stays on your phone. Save a file backup too.
The update will be available in your phone's app store once it is released.

Explore your neighbourhood, a new university town, or your next destination. There is always another street you have not visited yet.
TOGETHER, IF YOU WANT
Create a private group for family or friends. Or join Finland Together. Sharing is optional, and you choose what to show and to whom.
Only invited members can join. Joining does not share your statistics automatically.
National statistics and encouraging comparisons are always optional.
PRIVACY FIRST
You do not need an account to play. Your GPS location and precise route are processed on your phone. Katujahti does not send them to its own servers. You choose whether to join shared statistics or share results.
Your phone may back up game data and GPS routes to iCloud or Google, depending on your settings. You can change this in your phone settings. A full file backup you create also contains your routes. You always see share images before sharing them.
THE KATUJAHTI STORY
Katujahti started with Johanna’s idea and the family’s walks. With help from testers, it grew into a game for all of Finland.
Johanna read in Helsingin Sanomat that Pentti Arajärvi had walked every street in Helsinki. She discussed the idea with her husband Jussi, and it became a walking game for the family. Katujahti marked the streets they had walked on a map, making it easy to choose new ones for the next walk.
The game grew to cover Finland. Over 224,000 streets, local areas and three languages. Downloaded streets could be collected offline too.
The iPhone and Android apps went on real walks. Testers helped improve street detection, background recording and the map before the store release.
The iPhone app reached the App Store on 26 August and Android reached Google Play on 1 September. Free to play, no ads and no account needed to explore.
Discovered municipalities got their own Finland map. Share images were redesigned, Street Bingo gained more variety and players could choose their four walking metrics.
Side Paths brings paths and separate walking and cycling routes to the hunt. The update adds 50 achievement types, walks across municipal borders and clearer maps. Katujahti’s own online backup is removed.
The main milestones live here. We update the list as new versions arrive.
